DESCRIPTION:We are proud to share that we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Gr
inch Food Drive next Saturday\, 12/10/22\, from 9am to 1pm in Whoville and
we invite you all to join us! While the location\, timing and details of
the event are easy enough to see on the flyer\, the part you can’t see is
the MAGIC of the community behind it! HISTORY 2020 At Altair\, in the mids
t of the pandemic\, we tried to come up with a way to give back\, while ke
eping our team members safe - thus\, the idea of a drive-thru/virtual food
drive was born! We started small with a few (socially distanced) team mem
bers and some brave volunteer “Whos” from a local soccer club that wanted
to dress the part and join us for some fun! In a parking lot near our buil
ding\, we staged some homemade decorations\, fancied our hair\, threw on a
fuzzy green costume\, and invited our team members\, partners\, friends a
nd family to bring their nonperishable food items to Whoville. The results
	 - 1\,563 pounds of food and $1\,500 in donations which provided 3\,700 me
als to our local community. To say that we had way too much fun while doin
g it\, doesn’t even begin to cover it. 2021 Joined by some of our partners
\, a few more decorations\, and A LOT more (adorable) Whos\, we set a goal
to beat our prior year’s haul and got back to work in Whoville. We unload
ed cars\, sang carols on the corner of Gaylord/Tollway\, saw old friends a
nd met new ones. The results – EVEN MORE FUN\, 1\,900 pounds of food and $
2\,200 in donations\, providing more than 7\,200 meals to our local commun
ity! THIS YEAR - December 10\, 2022 Let’s just say you’re going to be able
to see (and hear) Whoville before you even exit the tollway\, turn into H
all Park and step out of the car. The donations and support from our partn
ers and our community has been overwhelming – and with their help\, Whovil
le will be the best it’s ever been: Fidelity Residential Solutions Prime L
ending CORT ReloQuest Hall Park Nelson Westerberg Market Street Raising Ca
nes FISD - Reedy High School’s Theater Department has created props that l
ook like they fell right out of “The Grinch That Stole Christmas” movie se
t And the best part…remember those adorable Whos we talked about? The Rene
gades Soccer Club\, which has 100 local soccer teams has partnered with us
\, not only with crazy-haired-volunteers\, but on behalf of their entire o
rganization\, parent groups and friends throughout the community by helpin
g us collect nonperishable food items for donation to North Texas Food Ban
k and online donations in support of Move For Hunger. If you forget your f
lyer or can’t seem to remember where Whoville is\, tune in to the radio\,
next week\, to STAR 102.1 and (many other stations in the DFW Metroplex) f
or reminders and details of our event. For those who haven’t joined us yet
\, it’s not too late! We’ve still got 9 more days to set our goals high an
d keep up the hard work that brings all of us together…and shows our commu
nity what we can do when we combine our efforts to extend our reach. Can y
ou imagine the fun we’ll have? The Community Calendar is provided as a com
munity service to citizens and businesses within Frisco and the surroundin
