State and County Primary Election Candidate Forum

Join us for a State and County Primary Election Candidate Forum Candidates from both parties have been invited. The forum will be split into Democratic Primary and Republican Primary portions and candidates will be participating in the forum with the candidates running in their specific primary to allow the best comparison of candidates within a primary election.

7:15 PM to 8:15 PM - Democratic Candidate Forum

This event is free and open to the public. The forum, presented by Frisco Chamber of Commerce Governmental Relations, will be held at Grace Church Frisco, 8440 Grace Street, which is just behind City Hall. No registration required.

What is a Primary Election?
A primary election is an election used either to narrow the field of candidates for a given elective office or to determine the nominees for political parties in advance of a general election. In a partisan primary, voters select a candidate to be a political party's nominee for a given office in the corresponding general election. 

Why are Primary Elections Important?
In Texas, November elections are typically won during the primary in March. Our voting districts are pretty regular in political leanings; meaning, the primary elections are the battlegrounds...almost every time! If you want your voice to be heard then you need to show up in March; otherwise, you are letting 2 million people (about 9% of the Voting Age Population) make the decision for you.

How is the Primary Election Different?
You don’t have to be a party member to vote in the primary election; however, you do have to choose only one party in which to participate. During the general election in November, you may vote on one ballot and choose between anyone that is listed, regardless of the candidate's political party. 

Important Dates:

Last day to register to vote for the March 3, 2020 election is Feburary 3, 2020.

Election day is March 3, 2020, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM in both Collin County and Denton County.

Early voting runs from February 18, 2020, to February 28, 2020.
